Spier 21 Gables Chenin Blanc 2020
The Spier 21 Gables Chenin Blanc 2020 is the perfect wine for transitioning from summer to fall — a refreshing character with refined style. It weaves a stone fruit tale of ripe peach and juicy pear aromatics with honeyed key lime citrus. The palate offers fruit complexity layered with neutral oak and a round mouthfeel. A whisper of minerality speaks of the terroir, grapes from dryland vines in South Africa's Western Cape, some nearing four decades old. Tasted September 2023.
Process: Fermentation took place in a combination of 300L, 400L, 500L and 2500L tight-grain French- oak barrels. Matured for 14 months in barrels - 60% new oak, with the balance being second fill.
