San Pedro 1865 Tayú Pinot Noir 2019

Covert Farms Family Estate Rosé wine
This wine is a collaborative project between Viña San Pedro and Chile’s Indigenous Buchahueico Community in the Malleco Valley. Each family owns 2.5H of grapes and is trained to tend the vines from bud break to harvest. The concept behind this wine was spearheaded by world-class winemaker Viviana Navarette. Tayu 1865 has received several awards for its innovation, including the Ethical Company of the Year award in 2018, an acknowledgement of the Green Awards from the British Magazine, The Drinks Business, Best Design and Packaging in the 2020 the Drinks Business Awards and Best Pinot Noir from Chile. 🍇 Did you know? Tayu means “Ours” in Mapudungun. The label is an artistic fusion, combining the features of dozens of women from the community. 🍷 An earthy rendition of Pinot Noir, exuding herbal aromatics delicately intertwined with tart cherry and raspberry notes. Juicy palate with a vibrant acidity lasting through a strong finish. Tasted October 2021.
Process: Aged 11 months in a combination of 2000-litre untoasted French oak foudres (40%), concrete eggs (15%), and used French oak barrels (45%).
