Aurelio Montes Jr. came to Calgary to share the distinctive terroir and meticulous winemaking of Chile's Colchagua Valley. A personal fave from the portfolio tasting was the Montes Folly Syrah 2019, one of Apalta's finest. This velvety smooth wine stands apart, embodying the passion and innovation of the Montes family. Complex blueberry, blackberry, and plum aromas with profuse rich black pepper and leather. Eighteen months in French oak barrels gifts a broad texture with notes of toasty vanilla and pipe tobacco. Silky and full-bodied. Tasted April 2023.
Process: 70% of the wine was aged for 18 months in first use French oak barrels .
