Jordan Russian River Chardonnay 2019

Covert Farms Family Estate Rosé wine
Outside of a partnership with the Malassagne family in France to produce a Champagne, Jordan Winery makes only two wines: Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. This 2019 Chardonnay is my first experience tasting either, and my oh my, what a lovely rendition to get us started. Coincidentally, this is the first vintage under Winemaker Maggie Kruse and features fruit sourced from 11 different vineyard blocks from five growers in the Russian River Valley. The aromas are an expression of balance, with barrels (pun intended) of citrus, green apple, and pear, in proportion to a weighty dollop of oak. Juicy acidity and definitive flavours of lemon and pineapple frame the mouthfeel, with a creamy texture and highlights of baking spice speckled through an elegant finish. Tasted November 2021.
Process: 50% fermented in stainless steel. Then, 100% aged in new French oak for 5.5 months.
