Hester Creek Sémillon 2022

Sémillon is one of those varieties that doesn't get nearly enough love in the New World, which makes Hester Creek's version a real treat. This isn't your typical crisp, forgettable white – it's got some serious personality. Pale gold with a green glint immediately signals something interesting is about to happen. The nose is a classic Sémillon profile – waxy texture meets bright fruit. You'll find layers of honeysuckle, ripe pear, and a subtle preserved lemon note that keeps things interesting. On the palate, it's a bit of a chameleon. A generous, almost oily texture is typical of the variety, balanced by a bright acid line that prevents it from feeling heavy. Flavours of golden apple, a touch of honey, and a distinctive mineral finish make this far more than a simple summer sipper. Sémillon is the secret weapon of some of the world's greatest white wines, particularly in Bordeaux. Hester Creek is proving that Okanagan can play in the same league.
