Hester Creek Old Vine Cabernet Franc 2021

Covert Farms Family Estate Rosé wine
Cabernet Franc gets a bad rap – often seen as just the blending grape in Bordeaux mixes. But in the hands of Hester Creek, these old vines are telling a story. Deep ruby with a vibrant core, the wine immediately signals its complexity. The nose is a textbook cool-climate Cab Franc – red and black raspberries dancing with green bell pepper and a hint of dried lavender. It's like walking through an herb garden after a summer rain. The palate continues this narrative, with a distinctive graphite-like minerality that sets it apart from your average red wine. Structurally, it's a beauty. Supple tannins provide just enough grip, while a medium-plus body gives the wine real presence. Tasted December 2023.
Process: Aged for 18 months in French and American oak.
