Clos du Soleil Capella 2021
Clos du Soleil (meaning "enclosed vineyard of the sun") embodies the essence of its name. Clos du Soleil Capella 2021 comprises grapes (73% Sauvignon Blanc and 27% Sémillon) nurtured in the sun-drenched Keremeos and Oliver vineyards, benefiting from the ideal climate and terroir of the picturesque Similkameen Valley region.
Each varietal was fermented separately in French oak and then barrel-aged for nine months with lees stirring, leading to vibrant notes of ripe honeydew, peach, and peak-of-summer green grass, followed by undertones of lemony pith. The palate showcases energetic acidity that remains through a complex texture and elegance. Though completely dry, the finish has an unexpectedly lifted mandarine orange syrup character.
Tasted June 2023.
Process: 10% of the barrels went through wild malolactic fermentation. All lots were barrel aged for nine months, on the lees, with lees stirring.
