Beeslaar TAJ Pinotage 2020

The grapes for the TAJ are sourced from the largest Pinotage vineyard in the world, located in South Africa's Swartland, and is made up of 20-year-old, unirrigated bush vines planted in decomposed shale soils. Made by world-renowned Pinotage winemaker Abrie Beeslaar, the inaugural 2020 vintage of TAJ gushes with ripe red berry aromas, with pronounced raspberry, cherry, and cranberry compote notes with cedary char, a hint of Pinotage's distinctive burnt rubber character, and a dusting of black liquorice. The palate highlights nicely integrated tannins with moderate acidity, giving good structure accented by a supple mouthfeel through a lengthy finish. Tasted January 2023.
Process: Unknown — except Beeslaar wines are typically matured for 17 months in French oak, 50% new.
