1 Mill Road Chardonnay 2022 vintage brings a calm, measured energy after a long, slow ripening season. Aromatics open on salted lemon and wet stone, with a lift of green apple skin and a faint nutty edge that reads like crushed almond more than overt oak. On the palate, there’s brioche and cashew notes threaded through citrus peel and white pepper. Full malolactic softens the edges, but the wine keeps its line. Oak sits in the background, adding texture rather than flavour. The finish stretches long and savoury. Tasted May 2024.
Process: 85% fermented in seasoned French oak puncheons. 15% fermented in new French oak barriques. Malolactic fermentation took place in full and naturally. Aged in barrel for 9 months before blending and bottling.
