Yes, pronouncing it ‘Vin-ho Vehr-day’ is completely acceptable. But did you know that super cool, hip and in-the-know wine peeps say ‘Vin-ho Vehr-ge’. Mind. Blown. 🤯
It’s just one of the many Portuguese wine facts shared by Iain Philip at the @winesofportugal_canada lunch and tasting held at @pigeonholeyyc .
I’ve raved about the value of Portuguese table wine before (take a seat for now, Port) and this showcase did not disappoint. I’ll be sharing more about why the country specializes in blended wines on my website in the near future.

A whimsical tasting at @meloyyc for @secret_spirits_co. We tasted some of the hand selected, single cask expressions that are available in their Scotch whisky 🥃 advent calendar. 📅
Now in their 6th edition, each calendar includes 25 one-of-a-kind Scotch whisky selections (50ml), a unique tasting glass, keepsake booklet, distillery postcard & collector’s lapel pin.
How epic of a present would this be for the Scotch lover in your life?! Tag a friend who would love something like this!! 💯

The 🍷 highlight of the night at my husband’s holiday party 🎄 . @bonterra Cabernet Sauvignon is made from organic 🍃 grapes from California. Paired perfectly with making small talk with strangers who constantly ask how I’m adapting to Calgary. 😆

Focused and linear with bright red fruit aromas 🍒. Structured acidity with mid weighty body. .
Do you have a fall back question you ask people when you’re in a room of strangers? Mine is “So how long have you been working at the company?”

When I think back to last week’s @chateaustemichelle Winemaker’s Dinner, the wine that remains stuck in my brain is the Canoe Ridge Chardonnay from Horse Heaven Hills.
The reds were epic, don’t get me wrong, but something about starting the meal with this elegant and elevated Chardonnay was lasting for me. Light with depth. Textured with beautifully integrated oak.
I was introduced to a whole different face of the winery during the dinner. The single vineyards, the old vines, the wine geekery that isn’t often seen with the wines of theirs you see in the grocery store. It’s worth the leap to dive deeper into Washington State’s oldest winery. They have a ton to offer.

This one landed on my desk not too long ago. From @40knotswinery on Vancouver Island, it’s all about the subtle and not so subtle messaging. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Not so subtle: they’re inspired nod in support of the LGBTQ 🏳️‍🌈 community. In honour of our society’s transformational rising, they made a pink bubbly 💕 to celebrate. 🌟

Subtle: Made in the tradition method. A ‘hollaback’ to they way they make Champagne 🍾. Like daaay-um, this is the real deal.

This is my first taste of anything from their portfolio and I’m impressed. Bright berry 🍓aromas and flavours with a zingy citrus 🍋acidity. A nose tingling effervescence that balances perfectly between frizzante and petillant with a finish for days. Perfect to brunch 🍴 with, to clink or cheers 🥂as an apperitif or structured enough to pair with a light dinner. 😊
