Quails’ Gate Chardonnay 2023

Covert Farms Family Estate Rosé wine
Quails’ Gate Chardonnay 2023 is a good reminder that Okanagan Chardonnay doesn’t need to imitate California or Burgundy to have its own personality. Lemon, orange peel, and apricot lead into a medium-bodied palate of pear and citrus, with a rounded texture. Fermentation in stainless steel and neutral French oak keeps the fruit front and centre, rather than turning the wine into an oak showcase, while bright acidity gives it enough lift to stay fresh. This is the sort of Chardonnay that's generous enough for creamy pasta or seafood risotto, but fresh enough to keep the meal from feeling heavy. Quails’ Gate has been working with Chardonnay for more than 30 years, and that experience shows in a wine that feels polished without being overly worked. Tasted November 2025.
Process: Fermented in a combination of stainless steel and neutral French oak. Aged on the lees for nine months before blending and bottling.
