Blasted Church Viognier 2022
Blasted Church Viognier 2022 is the kind of white that makes a pretty strong case for keeping Viognier on your radar. It’s all about juicy peach and tangerine, with white florals and a little pear adding to the aromatic lift. The palate has that classic Viognier richness — round and silky — but there’s enough acidity underneath to keep it bright. Fruit from three Osoyoos vineyards brings some nice layers to the blend, while a touch of skin contact and 25% barrel fermentation add texture and depth. The finish has a subtle bitter note that’s classic for the variety and keeps the fruit in check. Tasted October 2023.
Process: 25% was racked to barrel for fermentation and aging, while the remaining juice (75%) was fermented in stainless steel tanks.
