Bernabeleva Navaherreros Vinos de Madrid 2023 puts a fresh, juicy spin on Garnacha, with lively red fruit, dried flowers, peppery herbs and a savoury earthy note underneath. It’s energetic, with tangy acidity and fine-grained tannins giving the fruit plenty of shape. The grapes come from Bernabeleva’s vineyards in San Martín de Valdeiglesias, where different soils, orientations and microclimates contribute to the finished wine. At 14.5% alcohol, there’s enough weight to make it satisfying, but the overall feel stays bright and lifted. If your idea of Garnacha is ripe, plush and powerful, this is a useful reminder that the grape can go in a much fresher direction, too. Tasted September 2026.
Process: Fermented with indigenous yeasts in wood, concrete, or stainless steel tanks with long maceration, then aged in 500-litre barrels and large foudres.
